Job Description:
Hours: Part time, 20 hours/week

Schedule: Tuesdays and Fridays, 7:30am-5pm mandatory, other hours during the week as agreed upon with supervisor

The GrowHaus is an urban agriculture nonprofit in Denver's Elyria-Swansea neighborhood with the mission of creating community driven, neighborhood based food system by serving as a hub for urban agriculture, education, and economic opportunity. The GrowHaus uses food as a tool to grow a healthy, thriving community with our neighbors. We do this by empowering individuals to leverage their strengths to overcome the neighborhood’s significant inequitable barriers. The Sales and Distribution rep works within our food production department and is the salesperson for the lettuce, greens, herbs and mushrooms that we grow onsite in our indoor farms. The task of the sales and distribution rep is to increase sales of farm products by working closely with our hydroponic, aquaponic and mushroom farmers and wholesale customers, both new and existing. This will be done by building relationships with restaurants and markets (“customers”), providing samples, sending out weekly availability lists, offering sales/discounts, and delivering orders. This position is responsible for all communications with customers and ensuring clear and consistent communication with the farmers. We are looking for a personable, high-energy, detail-oriented and responsible individual- a “people person” in every sense of the word- who can seamlessly communicate and sell product effectively.



Areas of Responsibility
● Maintain relationships with existing farm customers through emails, promotions, product requests, and complaint resolution. Provide excellent and consistent customer service

● Recruit new customers through in-person meetings, email, farm tours, networking, and cold canvassing

● Deliver, via refrigerated van, all farm product in a timely, professional, and efficient manner on Tuesdays and Fridays

● Raise income in hydroponic, aquaponic and mushroom farms through increased wholesale sales and put together regular sales reports for farmers

● Process customer invoices, via Quickbooks, for all farm sales, follow up with customers on unpaid accounts, and ensure proper recordkeeping

● Ensure farmers have accurate pick-sheets for harvest and delivery days

● Communicate with customers about pricing and availability/shortages quality changes on a weekly basis

● Conduct correspondence with customers, handling any issues that may arise

● Give customers farm tours as needed and seasonally

● Create and update marketing materials- price sheets, brochures, product lists, etc.

● Maintain customer database

● Responsible for all delivery van maintenance including: tracking mileage, gas, van expenses, maintaining cleaning logs, oil changes, and any issues that arise in connection to the van

● Communicate with all GrowHaus staff to coordinate van usage between all departments

● As needed, perform farm check shifts on holidays and some weekends and fill in for farmers when they are on vacation or sick

● Assist in the farms when needed in the case of farm emergencies

● Work closely with GrowHaus farmers to understand production projections, coordinate on marketing, etc.

● Conduct all hiring and supervising of Farm Sales and Distribution unpaid interns

SECONDARY DUTIES:

● Represent The GrowHaus at events on and off site as needed and serve on event planning committees

● Assist in the strategic development of Farm Sales and Distribution at The GrowHaus

● Create, implement, maintain and be knowledgeable on all food safety regulations and rules as they relate to distribution

● Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements/Qualifications
Strong experience the following areas: sales, distribution, restaurant work, farm, CSA or farmers market, non-profit setting
Upbeat and self-driven attitude, ability to perform sales pitch with comfort, engaging
Excellent organizational skills (oral and written) and the ability to excel at details, multitasking and working under pressure
Occasional need for weekend or evening availability
Flexible attitude and a strong team player
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with diverse professionals and community members
Self starter - ability to stay on top of projects
Driver’s licence, clean driving record for the past 3 years, comfort driving large vehicle
Able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
2+ years experience distributing produce and/or providing farm customer service
Connections within the restaurant, chef, and food retail industries
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
Understanding of aquaponic and hydroponic farming
Proficient with Quickbooks accounting software and Google Drive applications
Compensation/Benefits
20 hours per week/$14 per hour
